Quad Cities Generating Station, located on the banks of the Mississippi River in the northwestern Illinois town of Cordova, is a dual-unit nuclear generating facility capable of producing 789 net megawatts per unit. Together the units can produce enough power to meets the electrical needs of nearly 1 million households.

Its Units 1 and 2 began commercial operation in February 1973 and March 1973, respectively. Both units are single-cycle forced-circulation boiling water reactors. The station is co-owned: ComEd is the license holder and owns 75% of the plant, and MidAmerican Energy Company owns the remaining 25%.
